Jötunn

The Primodial Giants

  "Out of Ymir's flesh was fashioned the earth,
And the mountains were made of his bones;
The sky from the frost cold giant's skull,
And the ocean out of his blood."

- Ancient Jötunn Proverb

The Precursors of Humanoids

  The Jötunn were one of the few influential species that roamed across Iberia that survived during the Age of Divinity. Walking alongside species such as the dragons of Tiamat, the Aos Sí, and other Primordials , they all strived to survive and sought dominance over each other.   Countless wars and conflicts arose from large-scale skirmishes. While much has been lost through the tides of time, their battles held great importance. Through these conflicts came many of the fundamental laws that are in place today. It was said that the first Jötunn named Ymir was the one who established the laws of humanity.   Ymir had roamed the planet for millennia before further Jötunn were created by a mixture of positive and negative energy left by the interplanar conflicts found in-between The Great Beyond. Ymir would be the basis of many humanoid creatures that exist today.   Shaped as a pale translucent like-humanoid bearing a featureless body with a halo over its head, Ymir's essence would be the building blocks of many creatures. As it would wander throughout the lands, trampling upon the soil of Gaia it would lead to the birthing of various species throughout the land.   Life would spring forth from Ymir's grace upon the soil, as critters alike would be created from their prolonged contact. The surge between Mana, Erg, and the bundle of positive and negative energy would surmount towards the creations of various known species. The most prominent one in Iberia presently is known as the Humanoids species and is found in every region.

Dragonic Conflict

  As Ymir continued their march, they would obtain the ire of the mother of the chromatic dragons known as Tiamat. She declared an end to the Jötunn species for their impudence in claiming ownership of her lands.   From the frozen tundras of the Southern Isles to the northern forests, all would be ravaged by her spawn. Dragons would lay waste to many of the primordial creatures that lived throughout the land. This would ignite yet another large-scale war that would forever change Iberia in favor of the Dragons.   The remainder of the Jötunn that survived the onslaught would late unite with Bahamut in the Ebb of Scales. Despite Tiamat's eventual fall, the numbers of Jötunn have dwindled greatly ever since. There have been little to no sightings of them during the Age of Divinity, and even further years during the The Golden Age Of Iberia. Their last sighting has been in the southern tundra of the South Pole.
