Creeping Taint of Morine
About fourty years ago someone in the Land of the Death Lords began to experiment with undead plants. This was done within the jungle in the northern part of that land. It was at least partially successful in creating plants that sap the life of other plants. It also resulted in plants that fed on animals as well. These plants have slowly turned those jungles into death traps for human and animal alike.
It has been expanding in the Land of the Death Lords since it's creation and in the last decade has expanded into the southern jungles of Limi-Xou. While not created to attack, it certainly helps that undead troops are easier to move through this expanding taint than living soldiers. This has created a situation that has enabled the Death Lords to begin to make claims over the south of Limi-Xou without risk of military reprisal. It is expected that soon the Death Lords will actually invade, though no one knowns for sure when or how that will happen.
Several groups are trying to combat the spread of the taint. The Gardeners of Hope do so in a practical manner, focusing their efforts on the ground. While others are conviced more long term thinking and perhaps a removal of the undead from the land will be required before there is any hope of containement.
Ecosystem
The taint itself is a series of half a dozen plants that are supplanting the natural ecosystem and slowly expanding outward to consume the jungle. These plants are Whispering Vine, Creeping Death, Bleeding fungus, Constrictor vine, Sword Grass, and Corpse blooms.
While animals are less present in the corrupted jungle, insects thrive. The mosquitos, bite mes, giant beetles, bullet ants, spiders and millipedes all proliferate and add to the oppresive heat and uncomfortability.
