Wandering Grave Wardens
This actually represents several units of Knights Hospitiliars of the Knights of the Flying Hammer. They are tasked with preventing the undead from attacking the living. The number of necromancers increased since the various plauges hit the population. It is enticing for those who desire power to utalize an abundance of the avaliable resources. It is however ethically and morally pressed against.
The Grave Wardens visit known graveyards and cemetaries to make sure they have not been disturbed and to hallow the grounds to prevent the reanimation of the undead. They also can be involved in raids to places like the Land of the Death Lords to hallow their graves to prevent them from growing in strength.
Composition
Manpower
Typically a team of 3 to 5 knights hospitaliers form this unit. The unit commander, the quartermaster, and the chaplain are a minimum. Additional members are added for special tasks or additional guards and chaplains are added for longer or riskier operations.
Equipment
Typically the ability to cover large distances quickly aids in the ability to hallow the most graveyards as possible. Most are airborne on flying hammerhead skiffs. Such skiffs can be canabalized and re-utilized Cartaries, or use Floating Granite in their operation.
Many work towards being able to have a Llyewn Tattoo as a protection against undeath.
Weaponry
Weaponry is typically light to enable movement, but long range and close combat tools are always present.
Logistics
Upkeep
Knights are trained in foraging and hunting, as well as being often supplied by grateful villages unable to hallow their own graveyards.
Recruitment
At this time half of these units are manned by dwarves, which is unusual with the fact that dwarves are more commonly afraid of heights and open spaces compared to others.
I like that their first line of defense is to hallow graveyards!
