Equinu

Equinu is the language spoken in northern Punjuki on Magicians' End. It evolved from Dry Cursive via a transitional form known as Proto-Equinu, which had itself developed in the later years of the New Kingdoms, before the Sundering. The language developed rapidly and diverged significantly from its origins during the Long Thaw. When the Old Pale Empire controlled Katrapetch, they spoke Old-Equniu. The modern form, did not emerge under after the Planar Conformation, but it has remained relatively stable since. Whilst Proto-Equinu is sufficiently different from the modern form to be considered almost an entirely different language, Old-Equinu is not so far removed and if we can stretch a point to count it as continuously comprehensible (which it just about is) then Equinu might be the oldest living language, although Julkai has a claim that is perhaps even stronger for this honour.
