Ebony Shores

A sleek black beach that welcome the most adventurous to the Enclave of Dusk.

Geography

The shores themselves are made of thick black sand that is smooth on the surface but with a sticky, viscous feeling just inches beneath. Some speculate on exactly what the shores are made of, from Sinister's fluids to collected waste from the Tethys Lagoon to even being a sentient creature camoflaging as a beach. But no one has been able to confirm. Further up on the beach are walls of volcanic rock with shelves of Nether that glow through even the thickest fogs to guide people to the perilous island. These shelves of Nether are able to be mined for resources but they are rarely used for such aside from the periodic adventurer.

Fauna & Flora

Black seaweed is seen in abundance where the shore meets the water, sprouting up to form a spongy lawn that feels like satin on bare skin. However, this is also where some of the most dangerous flora on the entire island congregate. Crustaceans from sea urchins to Japanese spider crabs roam the seaweed in search of smaller prey, as well as acting as unofficial guardians of the shore. With black carapace and an aggressive temperament, the Nether they leech allows them to pierce solid steel and inject a Netheric poison into any who decide to invade their space. These sea creatures are so dangerous, in fact, that no fish have come to the Ebony Shore of the enclave in its entire existence, either killed or scared away by the seafaring predators.

Natural Resources

The best natural resource of the Ebony Shore is its black seaweed. The Nether that pulses throughout the beach has altered its average molecular makeup to the point where a single serving, usually a cup, can remove cancerous and tumorous growths in the body. It does this by attacking alien growths in the body and inducing a necrotic shock that is akin to being electrocuted. Because of this, many scientists and researchers literally risk their lives just to get a handful of this miraculous plant.
