Morpheus Rift

Morpheus Rift is located in the heart of Apollo. What once stood as an ambitious project of a local tycoon, soon sat abandoned and forgotten. The building sat several years in disrepair. During this time, it attracted strange magics that took residence in the hotel. Gwen Stacy aka Ghost Spider, seized the opportunity to buy and repair the building for her hero team. It now stands as a striking building in Apollo's heart. Residents might not know the full story, but they have taken a liking to the Tavern and patio gardens that connect to the building at street level.

Purpose / Function

The goal of the team is to work with a variety of ideals and already existing groups to combat Sinister's influence. It is clear that Sinister is a threat that cannot be reasoned with. It is the hope, that Apollo's new heroes can not only work to stop the threat of the cult, but help Apollo as a whole. The team likes to focus on giving back to the community and working to rebuilt parts of the city that are torn up by crime. While combating Sinister is a big part of their focus, protecting Apollo from local threats and helping the community rebuild/unite is just as important.

Design

Each team member is given two rooms. Do to the dimensional nature of the hotel, members can choose to connect rooms to pocket dimensions of settings that are familiar with, already existing, or create whatever they see fit. Think of it as a door into a place of your choosing. Members are encouraged to set up a room for themselves they can use for private relaxation/training, and a bedroom. Members do have the ability to connect either of their rooms to existing apartments/housing for easy access, so they don't have to leave their living arrangements behind, if they so choose.     Entrance   On the street side of the hotel, there is a tavern called Morpheus Tavern and outdoor patio/garden. This area is accessible to the public anytime of day. The base is entered through the back doors. As one enters through a dark hallway, they are brought to a set of elevators that go up to a lobby area. There is another row of elevators each tuned to every hero that resides in the base. The lobby has a small bar for heroes and guests to enjoy. Each hero is given two rooms. These rooms can be shaped by the heroes thoughts and desires, making for a perfect place to stay or train. Heroes are also granted the ability to connect a portal from the base to one other location.     Arboretum   On the third level there is a pair of double doors that lead to one of the most popular pocket dimensions. The structure is temperature controlled and tended to by various AI. Both plant and wildlife can be found here, along with a large waterfall and pond. This is a private place for team members and trusted allies to have access to.     Residential Area   The hotel does not have a shortage of rooms that become accessible once a new member joins. Two rooms are given to team member to activate to their liking with card keys. Thanks to the mysterious nature of the rift, rooms are formed by the thoughts of members alone. They can be as big and small as a member wants and the design and features are entirely up to the member. In one of the rooms there is a silver door in which they can use to connect to another location of their choosing in Apollo.     Training Room   Similar to the X-Men's danger room which Gwen took a lot of inspiration from when coordinating its birth with the Rift, this room simulates a wide variety of simulations to help assist with training. Enemies can be set to any time or dimension. There is both a solo and team setting.     Laboratory & Med Bay   A large lab full of a wide variety of tech to assist in weapon design, research, and of course a recovery bay area for those healing from battle scars.     Armory & Range   A large room stocked with weapons of choosing from team members. Connected is a range for target practice or a variety of dummies for sword work.     Kitchen & Dining Room   A Gallery kitchen with all the kitchen supplies you could think of, a full stocked fridge, wine cabinet, and AI's ready to assist with cooking when one might be feeling a bit lazy. Connected is a large dining room.

History

While Gwen's dimensional watch has been on the fritz since her arrival in Apollo. After months of allowing it to collect dust in the corner, she attempted to use it one last time. Instead of transporting her back to her dimension, it seemed to guide her to a location in Apollo that was giving off unstable energy. It was as if multiple tears had been made in the universe. She had stumbled across the abandoned hotel with a strange energy.     Not only that, but as she began to explore, it seemed to be responding to her thoughts and manifested hallways and rooms right before her eyes . Not wanting to pass up this chance, she contacted a Mage who was able to help her to stabilize the strange magic, and determine if it was safe. Gwen and the Mage used crystals that allowed the energy to be more stationary rather than chaotic. Through this process it revealed that a dimensional entity was the one behind everything. The young spider was able to strike a deal with the entity that resided there in the hotel, promising that she would put the hotel to good use and protect the city from Nether. The entity agreeing to this, allowed Gwen to shape the hotel to her liking for her team.     The entity revealed that while it was able to grant safety through most of the building, to be cautious in the underground. The magic of the underground, was unstable and out of its control. It had the potential to draw other magics or unwanted entities. With the entity’s blessing, Gwen was able to make the base at the hotel, readying it for the team. Gwen has future plans to explore the unstable caves below.
