The Primean Calendar

In the 13th and final year of the Reshaping, Primus, the God of Time and Order, dictated a new calendar to the peoples of the world built on the precise orbit of the planet around Seleste and the tidal influence of the moons, It is said that he and two of the other gods, Ashtar and Ishtar, dragged the planet and it's moons into their current orbit, just so everything would fit, eliminating the need for the leap days or weeks used in the myriad calendars of old.

Primus then put the knowledge of this calendar into the minds of every thinking creature on the planet at once, cementing its use worldwide. There are 13 months, each with 28 days, divided into four 7 day weeks, and each year begins with a single day that is not part of any month, called Reckoning Day, for a total of 365 days.

After the Coming of the Gods they set to work on the world with a heavy hand. Their arrival ended the era now called “Before the Gods” or BG, and began the period known as the Reshaping. BG time is counted backwards from 1 and reaches into antiquity. the Reshaping lasted 13 years and culminated in the creation of the Primean Calendar. The current era is numbered from this point forward and is referred to as “After the Reshaping” or AR.

Reckoning day is a special holiday that stands apart from the rest of the calendar and is not part of any month. On Reckoning Day gifts are given, grudges are settled, crimes are judged, and a new year begins again.

This is not entirely symbolic either. Each year on Reckoning Day Principalities in the service of Primus, appear throughout the world, hear grievances, and pronounce judgments in accordance with whatever local laws and customs rule the land. These rulings are incontrovertible and strictly abided by, for the peoples of Ora understand the immense power of their Gods.
