Raze Family

The Raze family is one of the six ruling houses of Reishi Island. They were comparative newcomers to the noble social scene in Korosa at the beginning of Lara Raze's term, but the family has since come to own more businesses than any other in Reishi (though Vernilet is close.)

Structure

The Raze Family currently has four members; the mother, Lara Raze, the father, Booker Raze (who married into the family), the daughter, Cantrice Raze, and the grandfather Jemarcus Raze. Lara is considered to be the leader of the family, as Jemarcus abdicated his position and she is the one related by blood to the (newly) noble Raze line, while Booker comes from the Price family.   Lara's duties as an Oligarch consume much of her time, as she has to manage her family's many assets in the eyes of the law. Meanwhile, Booker manages Riverrock Acres, the family's farm, orchard, and vineyard, Cantrice manages Whitewater Farms, the family's farm, ranch, and plantation, and Jemarcus enjoys retirement running a tea shop and advising Cantrice.

Culture

The Raze family is new to nobility. They managed to scrape together enough money to enter the previous Reishi War Game as one final gambit to avoid debt to the Abithers, and managed to win by the slimmest of margins. Propelled, then, into the highest station of nobility, the family had to scramble to establish themselves in the political scene and build up their assets - and they did remarkably well. Even still, everyone in the family grew up in poorer conditions than they now enjoy, and so have a less opulent and haughty bearing.

Public Agenda

The Raze family manages agriculture and aquaculture on Reishi Island. They grow the wheat, raise the cows, bring in the fish, and train the seils. In more recent years, they've scooped up ownership of all of Korosa's taverns and cafe's, greatly increasing their actual yearly profits. Now, the family seems content to reinvest in their current operations and prepare for the upcoming war game.

Assets

As an Oligarchic family, the Razes have a sixth of the idyllic Citadel Armarantha to themselves, but they have also purchased a home in the Hano district should they ever lose their position on the council. The family also owns Korosa's two farms, Riverrock Acres and Whitewater Farms (including a smithy at each for the maintaining of farm equipment), the Whitewater Butcher, Whitewater Tea, Slakethirst and The Groggery, Korosa's taverns, Firewater Brewery, Seagrape Winery, Piece of Cake, a bakery, Cup of Joy, a cafe, and many fisheries outside the city.   The raising of seils (the docile aquatic creatures that pull ships along through the ocean) is done in the lake that the Clarenrun deposits into. The family managed to tame an elder seil named Olga, who moved into the Clarenlake at the request of Lara and allows the family to train her children under Cantrice's supervision.
