Devablight

A phenomena observed after the Cataclysm, Devablight is an occurrence, when an individual or individuals become twisted creatures known as Devas.

Transmission & Vectors

It is currently believed that it is a disease spread through contact between hosts. It is believed that anyone who comes in contact with a late stage fully mutated deva may be a carrier themselves.

Symptoms

Someone effected by devablight often seems to have one of their vices slowly consume their being. A gambler may become more obsessed with money and gambling, a frustrated mother may grow increasingly aggressive towards everyone, including her child, an apathetic businessman may find himself consumed by slothfulness. However, it all ends the same. The subject begins to change, slowly at first but more rapidly as time goes on. They may grow fangs, or claws, or perhaps their skin becomes bark like. Dependent on what emotion they are being consumed by, their appearance will change to match with that emotion.

Treatment

Dedicated deva-hunters swear up and down upon the idea that devablight can be controlled only through the killing of devas and anyone they had personal dealings with. Furthermore, it is believed that meditation and personal control can be used to stop devablight during its beginning phases before any mutation occurs.

Prognosis

Once major symptoms are expressed, ie the beginning stages of mutation, there is no going back. The disease will consume the host and they will become a deva. An embodiment of some reprehensible aspect of mortal emotion. Rage, vengeance, sloth, jealousy, gluttony, despair, fear, obsession, and greed.

Prevention

It is believed that by avoiding interacting with devas and by dedicating yourself emotionally to meditation and self betterment one can avoid becoming a deva themselves.

Epidemiology

This condition often effects large groups at once. Often in impoverished areas, usually after a deva or some other monster has effected the area in a horrific manor.

History

The first recorded instance of devablight occurred in the Clockwork Empire. The Clockwork Guard had cornered a group of brigands who had attacked a village on the outskirt of the city of Simmsmout when suddenly they were overtaken by rapid onset devablight. They turned into feral creatures never seen before and attacked the guard, almost overwhelming them before the clockwork soldiers were able to subdue them.
