Personal history
Due to their mother's heritage, the two brothers were often ostrasized by other members of the clan - particularly by their uncles. And when their father appeased them by having children with his mistress, tensions inevitably increased admist the family. Bennosuke in particular closely resembeled his mother and faced a great deal of discrimination.
Bennosuke quickly befriended Kinoshita no Akihide when he was brought to Ittoyama in the year 564. As a fellow outsider of the same age, the two became close comrades who were schooled together in education and swordplay.
The following year, Fuchi passed away after a long illness, devastating ten year old Bennosuke. Despite marrying one of his lovers, and surmounting pressure from his brothers, Sadanori stood by his eldest sons, insisting that Ryutaro would be the one to eventually succeed him.
