Sword Mountains
The Sword Mountains are a mountain range located on the north of the Sword Coast, forming a boomerang shape, northwest of Waterdeep and east of the Mere of Dead Men.
Geography
The highest point of the range is Icespire Peak.
Dwarven, gnomish, goblin, and orc settlements can be found within and near the mountains. Gnomengarde is a minor yet wealthy gnome kingdom located in the mountains. A town named phandalin was once an important settlement in the region, as the base of the Phandelver's Pact, but was ransacked by orcs, however, recently a New Phandalin has been built where the old town stood.
History
In the 10th century DR, a pact was formed between clans of dwarves and gnomes known as the Phandelver's Pact, later, human mages and the citizens of Phandalin became allies. The four parties would share the profit from Wave Echo Cave and eventually created the Forge of Spells.
