Philash' Wharf

In just a year or so, a great harbour district sprang up in anticipation of Ghearas opening up to the surrounding world. Shipyards built, a channel leading to the surrounding rivers dug out, warehouses and harbour offices constructed, and the Guilds of Shipmasters and Expeditions formed.

Demographics

Most of the people living in Philash' Wharf either work on the docks or constructing boats, though fishermen have started moving in during the last few months, together making up a low-middle class. The other group moving in during the last few months are people like military men, cartographers, mages, archaeologists, and other curious folk. In other words, adventurers.   The area almost seems to buzz with escapism, the streets full of people out for gold and danger.

Defences

There are seawalls along with a few (currently under construction) towers, and a great harbour chain to block entry if need be.

Industry & Trade

While nothing has to be truly imported, great amounts of hemp, cotton, lumber, and iron is brought in from around the city to construct the longboats that have been found so suitable for sailing around the Gold Sea. Other than that, many of the things foraged from expeditions are brought into the city proper for selling or, if it is a plant, into the Grainicht District for growing more.

Infrastructure

The area has four shipyards, simply numbered as Aonswharf, Dwaihswharf, Thrinswharf, Ceithirswharf, along with a complicated set of gates, seawalls, and bridges connecting everything together.

Assets

Foraged luxuries, in the forms of certain plants (especially spices), among other things have been gathered in storage around the warehouses of the District.

Guilds and Factions

The two guilds with power in the district, both newly formed, are the Shipmasters and Expeditionary Guilds. These organisations were expressly formed to capitalise on two suddenly quite important markets, namely building ships and the acquisition of ships crews, mercenaries, and explorers to take advantage of those very ships.

Architecture

The seawalls and shore area are both built out of mortared stone, with simple, functional buildings of stucco and lumber lining the streets.
