Jordsvik (Jord-sss-vick)
Jordsvik is the hamlet surrounding the town of Raven's Ford. It's populated primarily by farmers and fishermen. The community is isolated due to remote location and harsh climate.
Structure
The civiliztion is ruled by a Jarl who is a natural born decendant of Egil the Bold, however the society is very communal and democratic. All matters of law, custom, and public policy are done before the public. All citizens have voice and right to be heard in such matters. Any changes to the law are made before the community at the annual gather at the Festival of Lights.
Culture
The hamlet is populated by warrior farmers.
The civilization is in the process of going through a cultural and technological revolution. The society is very much in touch with it's ancient past when they were a hunter/gatherer society, but also moving into a civilized culture where the people live in cities and trade without side communities.
The rule of law is considered to be greater than tradition or religion. When citizens vote on a a matter of law, tradition, or policy the citizen will accept it even if it violates past traditions as long as the majority accept it and all citizens have the right to be heard.

The country was founded by Egil the Bold and the warband who cast out the Risi.
