The Empire of Sun
Forged in the flames of the mighty Dragon-God Akan, The Empire of Sun rules over Western Kapsaka. The seeds of the Sun Empire reach back beyond The Great Frost when The Golden Horde first built their vast network of rift-gates. Under the protection of Akan, the mortal empire grew with little meddling from alien cultures. The notable exceptions being the few years of influence from The Golden Horde and the Gurun refuges who settled on the world.
With the curse of lost flame robbing the Sun Elfs of population growth and the ever-increasing need for mortal sacrifice to appease Akan, solving the decline of their people is the state's top priority. Over the last 800 years the empire has begun space travel, but with the rift-gates opening, a far more effective form of transportaion may be on the horizon-with far greater secrets and treasures.

Mythology & Lore
Sometimes referred to as the Dead God, Akan is the culture's sun god. Akan is also said to have domain over wine, drinking, disease, and death. He is often depicted as headless in art, and some scholars suggest that he is also the God of Suicide. Ritualized sapient sacrifice to Akan is a common occurrence resulting in increased economic productivity and unity among the population. Akan regularly lands on the planet to feed on the population, and giving one's self to feed the dragon is considered a sacred rite. These feedings are often accompanied by a solar eclipse, and it is believed that between meals Akan takes mortal form. Children born during this event are considered children of the divine and indoctrinated The Order of Black Sun.
