Daramaekstrix

dar'ram-ay'k-s'tricks

Each city is ruled by a single Daramaekstrix, with a Daramaekstrix-king (usually an elder dragon) ruling a kingdom of these cities. These Daramaekstrix-kings have no formal title, as dragons only consent to titles for the sake of lesser beings' understanding; amongst themselves there is no need.

Requirements

Must be a dragon.

Appointment

Usually gained according to the rules of Xorvintaal, but not always required.

Responsibilities

A Daramaekstrix must follow the rules of the Absalom Pact, and may not take actions to cause harm to Triaxus.

Benefits

The benefits of being Daramaekstrix of a location is usually equivalent to receiving taxes but varies wildly depending on the benefits that a location provides. Spaceports, natural minerals, waterways and more all have different values.

Accoutrements & Equipment

In the interest of keeping The Great Game hidden from the outside world, most Daramaekstrix retain the previous Daramaekstrix's lair. Creating new lairs is an obvious, not to mention expensive, endeavour - although modifications are usually carried out to suit the new occupant's preferences.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Ownership can be forced out in The Great Game. Not playing along with the rules of Xorvintaal is seen as rule-breaking, and therefore the same as oathbreaking. The exception is the leader of the Skyfire Legion.

History

  1. For millennia, the fractious humanoid nations of the Allied Territories battled against the Daramaekstrix-ruled nations of the Drakelands. The tactically crucial Skyfire Passage between the two warring continents was the vital strategic chokepoint that both sides battled over.
  2. 1/1/0AG: Triaxus awakened after the Gap at the start of the change into winter.
  3. 2AG to 3AG: The creation of the dragonborn and the first Daramaekstrix to watch over them.
  4. 41AG: With the coming of the Absalom Pact, the primarily evil dragons of the Drakelands saw the advantages of membership and trade with the other Pact Worlds, and active hostilities ceased.
  5. 48AG: The Allied Nations merge with the Drakelands, allowing Daramaekstrixes access to control the entirity of Triaxus.

Cultural Significance

Some feel they never escaped the dragon overlords of the Drakelands, others welcome the wise leadership and thousands of years of experience. In truth, each city varies wildly in their experience depending on which type of dragon currently rules them.

Outside of Triaxite society, a dragon establishing themself as Daramaekstrix of a company is seen as a cultural name for CEO, and little more.
