This article contains generic information about dragons, but they come in many different types. Information about a specific type should be applied 'over the top' of the information provided here.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Dragons are scaled, reptilian beings with large wings capable of flight. A dragon has a long tail that can be used as a weapon, and typically has multiple horns on its head and a ridge or horns along its spine. While size depends on the dragon's type, very young dragons are about the size of an adult humanoid, whereas adult dragons rival the largest giants in size, and the oldest dragons can tower over buildings.

History
- Metallic dragons are created by █████ to be hunted for sport, but although the details are lost to the Gap it seems this hunter was threatened and then saved by his mother. She then healed the wounded metallic dragons, and they turned to evil - the first chromatic dragons.
- Triaxus is unified by a warlord-dragon by the name of Triaxus. His empire would last for a few hundred years before shattering upon his death - enough time for the planet to adopt his name.
- 2AG to 3AG: The creation of the dragonborn. Also, the first Daramaekstrixes watched over them.
- 41AG: With the coming of the Absalom Pact, the primarily evil dragons of the Drakelands saw the advantages of membership and trade with the other Pact Worlds, and active hostilities ceased.
- 48AG: The Allied Nations merge with the Drakelands.
Historical Figures
- Triaxus, the dragon who united the entire planet under his empire. The planet of Triaxus takes its name from him.
Common Myths and Legends
Legendary septs are mentioned in lore, but are not known to exist on Golarion or in The Vast. It is unclear if they were always fictional, or have become extinct:
- Abomination: hoarfrost, rot, ruin, rust, and suffocation
- Humour: choleric, melancholy, phlegmatic, and sanguine
- Mineral: coal, pyrite, silicon, and sulfur
- Thaumaturgic: abjuration, conjuration, divination, enchantment, evocation, illusion, necromancy, and transmutation
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Some young dragons allow knights of identical philosophical orientation to adopt them as mounts, but this is a rare occurrence with the advent of spaceflight.

Genetic Descendants
Scientific Name
Darastrix ("Dragon" in draconic)
Origin/Ancestry
Possibly an ancestor of the Ignidracos, who may have also created Draconic.
Lifespan
1000+ years
Average Physique
Dragons grow more powerful as they age, both in raw, physical might, and in mental and magical ability. While a newly hatched wyrmling might be defeated by a small party of modestly-experienced adventures, an ancient dragon can pose a threat to a small army. Dragons are fierce fighters, and those attempting to battle them can expect to be bitten, raked with their fearsome claws, buffeted by the wings, and smacked by the long tail. Details of draconic anatomy is particularly well understood, and it is clear that dragons have many elements within their anatomy that are unique.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
True dragons are divided into various 'septs', or families, of related dragon species. The most common and best detailed are the noble metallic dragons and the vicious chromatic dragons, but several others exist as well. Good dragons appear to exist in smaller numbers than evil ones, but that may only be a matter of perception, as good dragons have less of a need to mix with "lesser races" such as humans.
Additional draconic septs include:
