In-Game Time

In-Game Time refers to the passage of time experienced by player characters and NPCs as opposed to the passage of time experienced by players in the real world.  Because not all characters in The New World are present for all events, In-Game Time passes asynchronously.  For example, if a Party enters The Wilds and remains there for one week, characters not included in that Party may conduct other activities, including an entirely separate Adventure, during the same in-game week, but at a different time in the real world.

In-Game Time advances at the GM's discretion, but this will typically occur once most or all active player characters are engaged in either Adventuring or Downtime activities.  Players can check their characters' current status by referencing the List of Player Characters.  They will also receive a notice via Discord whenever In-Game Time advances.  While there is no limit on the number of characters a single player may have, a character will not be considered "active" for Time management purposes unless they are regularly used for Adventuring and a player may not have more than one character engaged in an adventure at once without the GM's permission.
