Grimford

Though founded well after the Great Exodus, Grimford grew quickly due to the unique resources in the Barren Downs. Paper was a dwindling commodity and no one had found a suitable location to begin cultivating papyrus. Not far upstream from the city consists of large, fertile riverbanks ideally suited for its grow. And so Grimford was founded as an outpost, harbor and fortress for those early settlers. Over time, hamlets grew near the farmland but the city continued to grow due to the industry needed for the production of paper. Later, expeditions found rare gemstones and jewels that could be mined in the wasteland's hills and desert.   As with the other cities of the Desert Kings, a solid defense network of walls, towers, and gates surround the city and the outlying hamlets. The region is known for the hostile animals that roam the land.

Government

A self-described king established the city and funded its construction. He is one of the council members that make up the Desert Kings.

Defences

A complete city wall from the river to the East to the ocean to the South encircles the city. Towers are located around the land portion of the wall while only a gatehouse overlooks the harbor area by the river.

Industry & Trade

Industry geared towards the production of paper along with books and scrolls is the primary industry. Gem cutting and jewelry manufacturing have been growing lately due to some large gemstone mines founded recently

Guilds and Factions

The scribe and jeweler guilds are located here due to the amount of paper and gemstones in the area.
