Professed

The majority of Sisters in the Daughters of Verity are professed; having gone through the postulancy and novitiate and having made their "profession" of vows.   Like the simple vows made by postulants becoming novices, these solemn vows are received by the Canoness. This ceremony takes place in the Crystal Cathedral on the Feast of the Emperor's Ascension, the most high holy day of the year. This is a more solemn ceremony than the novice's vows at Sanguinala, although no less joyful. During this ceremony, the former-novices habits are dyed deep blue and the icons of the Order and the Sororitas are affixed to their armor.   While a Sister remains professed for the rest of her life, some will be elected to the rank of Palatine or even Canoness. Those with particular skills and training will become hospitaliers, Machaenices Canonical or other specialists, and those who show appropriate aptitude and devotion will lead corpora as Principes Autem Corpus or train the next generation as Novice Mistresses or Pedagogues Militant.   A very few will be selected by Verity to serve as Seraphim or even the Metatrix. Finally, it is possible she may violate her oaths and become a Repentia to expiate her sin.
