The bustling city of Guthorven sits majestically on the edge of the Southern Reach, a sprawling landscape of rock and sand. It is encircled by the majestic Empty Mountains to the north and the desolate Empty Wilds to the south. Guthorven is home to an industrious and hardy people of rock gnomes.
Though the city is governed by a Sultan, the governing body comprises an impressive council of highly-respected elders. They direct the governing of the city and serve as a sounding board and an arena for debate and discourse. It is through this body that the whims of the Sultan are executed and the laws and regulations proposed.
The gnomes of Guthorven are known for their inventiveness and work ethic. They are not as whimsical as other gnome communities, instead possessing a sturdy sense of discipline and military preparedness. Every gnome of the city is expected to perform community service in the defense of their settlement.
The Rock Gnomes of Guthorven also enjoy a close relationship with their neighbors in the halfling settlement of Amberbottom. This long-standing alliance has seen both parties lend aid and assistance over the years, forming an ever-stronger bond. Though their methods of government and industry are often at odds, both settlements have much to gain from a healthy exchange of ideas and goods.
