Black Hydraguard

The Black Hydraguard or Black Dragonguard is a mysterious division of the Mibrish Hydraguard. For close to a thousand years they have watched from the shadows, maintaining a balance of power between the people of Mibran and the nobles. Occasionally they are used for darker intentions. Whenever an assasination occurs in the area of Mibran, the Black Hydraguard is suspected, but none would dare to blame them in fear of swift retribution.  As such, most public blame for assassinations and other dark deeds go to The Brotherhood of Silvered Glass.

Structure

Shadow Mancers.  With the funding of the Mibrish Hydraguard and the secrets both arcane and historical hoarded by the Black Hydraguard, the Shadow Mancers are without a doubt some of the most powerful spellcasters East of the Jakarak Desert, some would argue the entire world.  The upper echelon of the Black Hydraguard are almost entirely Shadow Mancers, with only one or two exceptions.  A Shadow Mancer usually wears robes black as night when conducting business for the Black Hydraguard or when within Blackeep.
Black Blades.  The Black Blades are a subsection of the Shadow Mancers.  They are noted for their incorporation of Jaharin forms into their magic.  Their mastery of both sword and sorcery give them a high rank within the Shadow Mancers.  It is said that the origin of the Black Blades' forms came from the city of Mibril, whether the first Black Blades were trained by the Elves in preparation for the Dragon War or stole the secrets after the Destruction of Mibril has been lost to history, but the similarity to modern Jaharin Bladesinging is absolutely undeniable.  However, few survive an encounter with a Black Blade long enough to state this.  The general uniform of a Black Blade is left up to them, with the exception of a pitch-black mantle held on with a broach in the shape of eight dragon heads splayed out in a spiral.  The broach and mantle are used as the badge and mark of their office.
Dark Agents.  When something needs to be done, the Black Hydraguard sends out operatives called Dark Agents, whether items need to be delivered and picked picked up or a powerful person needs to be eliminated for the good of the city, regardless of who or where they are.  Dark Agents carry no physical marker of their profession; the only way to identify one is to go into the records held in Blackeep.
Blackguards.  The Blackguards are what most would think of when the Black Cloaks are spoken of.  They guard important member of society and are the more physically inclined members of the Black Hydraguard.  They wear the Mibrish Breastplate and capes of pitch-black cloth.

Assets

Some estimates would suggest that the Black Hydraguard has no more than a couple hundred operatives.  Others put that number closer to a thousand operatives spread across the world.  Only the highest ranking Shadow Mancers know the true number and locations of these agents.

History

Founded with the rest of the Mibrish Hydraguard in 3001, the Black Hydraguard have served their purpose for over a thousand years, for good or for ill.
