King/Queen
Kings and Queens are the ultimate authority within their domains, unless they are subservient to an Emperor or Empress. Who or what is within a King or Queen's domain varies greatly. Some have vast kingdoms with multiple Archdukes or Archduchesses sworn to them, while others have just a few Counts or Countesses or even just a handful of Knights.
Qualifications
Most often, the only legal requirement to be King or Queen is to be the eldest child of the previous King or Queen upon your royal parent's death. In some kingdoms, the crown is gender restricted or passes through the family by some other particular pattern. In some instances, the next monarch is selected by a committee, though an argument could be made that these are not true Kings and Queens, but rather High Princes and Princesses.
