Personal history
When Varkkis took power from his ailing mother, he was very much an advocate for the unification of the Hrakken people into a powerful Empire under the control of an undead leader that could put in place longterm plans for the people to reap benefits that the shortsighted living did not have the patience to obtain. When the call came to marshal armies for The War of Lokish Aggression, Varkkis jumped at the opportunity. He and his son, Varis, journeyed with their undead to the Lokish border and participated in several battles. It was during this conflict that Varkkis began to realize the true malice of the Hrakken Necro-lords and the absolute malevolence of intelligent undead.
On one of the last days of fighting, young Varis Kkarnasu faced off against one of Lokain's finest Abjurers. During the resulting wizard's duel, Varis was cursed to never be able to interact with magic again. With this devastating blow, Varkkis withdrew from the conflict and the pair returned home.
After their return, and the death of Varkkis' wife, Varkkis spent most of his time alone in his private study, leaving his children to their own devices. He reanimated the corpse of his wife to care for Vollakka, the son she had died bringing into the world.
