Personal history
Vanell was born to Kkarnasu family as their third child. As a young girl, she was taught about magic, the Empire, and the world at large. When her brother, Kkakkar, started taking lessons from a tutor of Koh's School of the Dark Arts, Vanell joined in these lessons, although she didn't really study in earnest until she was about fourteen. Once she began applying herself, it became clear that she could become a powerful spellcaster, but didn't have much interest in the school of Necromancy. As her lessons continued, she began to specialize in Divination.
When Kkakkar Kkarnasu left to seek out the Tomb of the Sorrowsworn, Vanell fully devouted herself to her studies, only sparing time for her other brothers, Varis and Vollakka Kkarnasu.
Education
Vanell has been educated in the basic uses and theories of magic, as well as more worldly studies such as mathematics, biology, and wartime strategy. Until the age of eleven, she was taught primarily by her mother. After her mother's death, she was taught by Kkakkar's tutor in the use of magic and Varis for most other subjects.

Motivation
Vanell wants to increase her knowledge and power in the field of magic in order to assist her family. She believes that she could make a better leader than Kkakkar or Vollakka Kkarnasu, but would rather let Kkakkar lead the family than do it herself. She hopes that as she learns new magics she'll find a way to free Varis of his curse.
Likes & Dislikes
Vanell likes cute things, both living and otherwise. She received a tressym from Varis as a birthday present. She named it Mirakar after one of the Lords of the Nine.
She likes dressing in clothing she considers cute or reminds her of something or someone. Recently she's been trying on some of her mother's gowns. She often has new clothing shipped in from places she has only seen art of. Some of her favorites include an ash grey gown with ruby flecks woven into it, appearing like a sky full of red stars, and a deep green dress that widens at the bottom with a pattern resembling an Evertree. These were imported from En-Kaeldae and The Grand Kingdom of Midrasus respectively.
