Serediza - Region Introduction
A vast range of mountains separate the arid lands of Serediza from the rest of eastern Raen’dor; perhaps it is because of this geography that the people of Serediza have been removed from much of the conflicts and dealings of the other realms. Another reason could that of all the realms, Serediza has been least affected by the magics of the Feywild and the Shadowfell in recent centuries, allowing it to develop in a more stable manner. Still, the rocky desert landscape poses many challenges to the folk who make their homes here, resulting in sprawling settlements that serve as safe havens amidst the harsh landscape. The realm has its own distinct political structure: its three major cities are ruled by elected mages rather than noble families, who form a Triad that speak on behalf of Serediza in negotiations with the Queen's Court. The prevailing legend of Serediza is that great dragons (which are rare in most of Raen’dor these days) gave their people the gift of magic long ago, and so those who wield magic also wield the will and wisdom of dragons-- exactly the kind of leaders needed to thrive in their harsh home.
