Gather, oh seekers of forgotten lore, and let the veils of time now part, to reveal the saga of the Cosmic War—a tale woven from gods and mortals alike. In a bygone epoch, before the world breathed its first breath, Asgorath, the Dragon God of Creation, conjured existence itself. His blood birthed the Five Founding Dragons, whose ideals shaped our very world. Law & Chaos, Good & Evil, Intellect & Emotion, Physics & Logic, Growth & Decay. Then, came the Two-faced goddess, Shar and Selune, Darkness and Light. Together, they created the planes of existence themselves and infused them with life, including many powerful beings that would later become the Gods that exist today. The world prospered, during the Age of Stars, but Chauntea, in her quest for warmth, stole the ever-living flame from the Far Realm. Doing so ended the Age of Stars, an era of peace, as the Sun brought with it an unknown enemy; the elemental chaos and the primordials!
Erek-Hus, King of the primordials, killed many of the early Gods, and nearly caused a cataclysm that would have surely brought about the destruction of Sorus. Erek-Hus was so powerful, that Asgorath, Dragon God of Creation appeared for the first time in the world that he had willed into existence. Asgorath fought viciously against Erek-Hus, but in the end, the primordial killed him by cutting Asgorath in two with an adamantine ax as large as the tallest of mountains. The blow that killed Asgorath was so powerful that it tore the elemental plane of Sorus into two halves: East and West Sorus. In doing so, the life essence that Selûne and Shar had imparted in Sorus was left exposed and unprotected, threatening the stability of the entire cosmos. Chauntea later sacrificed both of her arms to contain this life essence which became the two artifacts known as The First and Second Spark. Chauntea's power is what made the material plane what it is today, a beautiful land, full of life and love.
But there was some who were willing to undo Chauntea's gift, and claim the Spark for themselves. There were also those who would seek out the Spark to protect it, and others who vowed to let no one near it. With no one to stop it, the Gods started warring over these artifacts of great power, and thus, amidst the inner and outer planes, the Cosmic War raged.
Titans and dragons alike clashed amidst starlit skies, mortal heroes joined the fray, fueled by the power of their gods. A long and bloody road paved the history of our world, until, a mortal seized the First Spark, and in his claim to divinity, destroyed half of the material plane! Bhaal, God of Murder, was born.
His fiendish hordes and his strength were so great, that it forever ended the Cosmic War, as none of the other Gods armies could measure up against Bhaal's overwhelming power. Then, came about the Age of Chaos, where Bhaal ruled the surviving continent, searching for the Second Spark. And after a thousand years, something strange and sinister happened; the entire continent of East Sorus VANISHED!
The children gasp, and on the edge of their seats, exclaim:
What happens next old man Fal??
The old hermit cackles, and mysteriously whispers:
Nobody knows......The continent has never reappeared. The material plane is now only a desolate wasteland, a reminder of Bhaal's treason....most scholars assumed that a God hid East Sorus in order to stop Bhaal. But reports from Abyssal surveyors indicate that Bhaal is now in his domain, and weakened. Whatever the truth, what matters is that the Spark is safe from the Gods... Let this be a lesson, youngins, that some things must stay hidden, for the cost is far too great.....
