Layer 666 - Citadel of Blood
The Citadel of Blood is a layer of The Abyss ruled by Bhaal, the God of Murder. The entire realm is bathed in a deep crimson hue, and the air is thick with the stench of blood. The sky is always obscured by a thick layer of red smog, making it difficult to see more than a few hundred feet in any direction.
As one approaches the Citadel, the air grows colder and the winds more violent, swirling with the whispers of the damned. The citadel itself is a towering structure of jagged, blackened stone, surrounded by a moat of blood that glows with an eerie red light. The only entrance is a massive iron gate, guarded by demons that serve as the first line of defense against any intruders who would dare to enter.
Within its walls, the tortured souls of those who have been sacrificed or murdered by Bhaal's fanatical followers roam freely, their anguished screams echoing through the endless halls. The mere sight of the citadel strikes fear into the hearts of even the most battle-hardened warriors, for they know that once they set foot within its walls, they may never leave again.
