Boareskyr Bridge

Boareskyr Bridge is a crossing over the Winding Water on the Trade Way that connects Waterdeep to Scornubel, Triel, and the other various cities of Elturgard.

History

Boarsekyr Bridge was built by the eponymous adventurer sometime before the mid-1300's.   In 1358, the gods Cyric and Bhaal fought one another along this bridge, resulting in the destruction of the nearby settlement. Bhaal ultimately perished, falling into the water on the west side of the bridge, poisoning it. To commmortate their great struggle, two giant statues, one of each god, stands at opposite ends of the bridge.   By the 1440's, the small settlement of Boareskyr Bridge was coming under the increasing influence of Elturel, which began sending patrols of Hellriders to scout the area. This relationship was formalized in the 1450's, when Boareskyr was officially annexed into Elturgard.   In 1481, Thamal Thent, the heir apparent of Elturgard, was patrolling around Boareskyr Bridge when she and her entire retinue of Hellriders disappeared. No culprit was ever discovered and Thavius Kreeg, who became the High Observer in Thent's stead, ordered the construction of Fort Thamal to protect the area.   During the Great Dragon War, Varram the Blue, a Cult of the Dragon wyrmspeaker, stopped by Boareskyr Bridge on his way to the Tomb of Diderius. The Breadwinners passed through the area during their pursuit of him. When the adventurers returned, they found nearly all of Boareskyr wiped out by a Cult of the Dragon attack.   In the years following the war, the paladins of the Order of the Companion based out of Fort Thamal began rebuilding the settlement, though the process has been slow.   After the dissolution of Elturgard in 1498, following the Damnation of Elturel, and the subsequent dismantling of the Order of the Companion, the fate of Boarskyr Bridge is uncertain, as the northern monsterous kingdom of Najara seems poised to move further south into the Western Heartlands.
