Enya Goldfinch
Enya Goldfinch is the wife of the former baron of Salt Lake, Artus Goldfinch, and the mother of the current baroness, Mariana Goldfinch.
History
Born in 1441 to minor vassals of Amphail, Enya was slated to be eventually married off to secure a minor alliance. That marriage occurred in 1469, when Enya married Artus Goldfinch, the baron of Salt Lake. Enya gave birth to Mariana Goldfinch, her only child, in 1472. She also began to help raise her husband's nephew, Gabriel Goldfinch. During this time, Enya's ideas about how noble daughters should act, dignified, well-studied, and courteous, often clashed with Mariana's more brash and abrasive personality. Enya was unaware of Artus's theft of the Eye of Akadi in 1488, which caused the town's four-year long drought. Enya was also upset with Mariana when she attempted to forcibly end the drought by fighting Akadi’s Wrath and didn't fight Artus's decision to send her to Gregory Tumbleton University. Enya spent most of the next two years caring for Artus as his health started declining due to a mysterious illness. She and Gabriel handled most of the day-to-day operation of Salt Lake. However, she was unable to prevent, or even discover, the plans of the Plowshare Militia to take over Salt Lake until it was too late. She and Artus were confined to the Goldfinch manor under guard and not allowed to leave. During the Siege of Salt Lake, Enya was primarily concerned with keeping her husband safe, resigning herself as a captive to the Plowshare Militia. When the Breadwinners, including Mariana, arrived in Salt Lake, Enya was thrilled to see her daughter again. She was just as shocked as the Breadwinners when the adventurers discovered the stolen Eye of Akadi, however Enya stayed loyal to her husband, believing he had his reasons. Following the end of the Siege of Salt Lake, Artus Goldfinch was stripped of his barony, and the title passed to Mariana Goldfinch. Enya accompanied Artus to his place of confinement in Amphail, where she remains by his side, though she is distraught by her daughter and husband's unwillingness to compromise with one another.Social
Family Ties
Enya has remained steadfastly loyal to her husband Artus since they've been married, due to her belief in the importance of strong and united noble families. This has ultimately put a great strain on her relationship with her daughter Mariana, who fundamentally disagrees with her father on most aspects of governance.
