Ken Asari
Ken Asari is the name of a cursed ruin in the High Forest that was destroyed after an unknown thief stole the Staff of Shadowfell Sundering from the copper dragon Tazmikella.
History
Sometime prior to 1000 DR, an unknown thief stole the Staff of Shadowfell Sundering from the copper dragon Tazmikella. The thief brought the staff to their home on the top floor of a large building in the center of town and activated it, creating a tear between the Prime Material Plane and the Shadowfell. Through this tear, horrible monsters came bursting forth, killing most of Ken Asari's inhabitants or leaving them as zombies. Thankfully, the city's high walls stood, containing the desolation, and the city was abandoned, its horrors trapped within.
In 1492, Githzerai allies of the Cult of the Dragon began investigating the ruins, attempting to locate the Staff of Shadowfell Sundering. They eventually found it, but their attack against the death tyrant guarding it failed, forcing them to retreat and strategize.
During this time as well, the Breadwinners arrived in Ken Asari, also seeking the staff, in order to return it to Tazmikella and convince the Metallic Dragon Council to align themselves with the Council of Waterdeep. The Breadwinners stormed the githyanki camp, learned where the Staff of Shadowfell Sundering was located, and defeated the death tyrant guarding it after a harrowing battle.
Ava of the Wilds managed to close the rift to the Shadowfell through her own intrinsic connection to the Fey Wild cancelling out the staff's magic. The Breadwinners then departed, leaving the city still over run with undead but, without a direct connection to the Shadowfell, no new monsters could arrive.
