Ordurn
Ordurn
Ordurn was a male human, who led the Cult of Bane cell on the Isle of the Abbey and could be considered the first member of S'gothgah's Cult of Bane.
History
In Deepwinter of 1489, Ordurn came to be in charge of the abbey where members of the Cult of Bane had established a presence to engage in nefarious research. During this time, Ordurn performed most of his research in the secret dungeon in the abbey's basement, called the Winding Way, focusing on the mysterious that could be gleaned from the Century of Strife. In Flamerule of 1490, Ordurn discovered the aboleth S'gothgah at the end of the Skull Dunes. S'gothgah had recently been exiled for their unorthodox beliefs and had been wandering the Sea of Swords for years. Ordurn was wary of the aboleth, but the two struck up an interesting an unique companionship, as Ordurn found an intellectual equal in S'gothgah. It was during these conversations that S'gothgah developed an interest in, and then eventually a reverence for, Bane. However, during this time S'gothgah never told Ordurn his name, referring to himself only as "S". Soon, Ordurn, who had slowly but unknowingly fallen under the aboleth's sway, couldn't resist talking to S'gothgah about the Century of Strife. Intrigued, S'gothgah offered his assistance in research. Ordurn built a secret holding vat for the aboleth inside the Winding Way, where the two of them would spend days on end in research. On New Years of 1492, the two of them discovered the secret power they had been looking for: the Banesmark. In 1492, the Isle of the Abbey came under attack from the Sea Prince Syrgaul in search of rumored riches. The cultists panicked as the pirates threw themselves against the isle's skeletal defenders. Realizing S'gothgah could help, Ordurn promised to bring the pirates to the abbey's riches, after they had already destroyed the entire building. Ordurn took them to the north side of the island, which put them in the mental range of S'gothgah, who managed to get the ship's captain under his sway. S'gothgah ordered the ship to depart, but decided to accompany them, realizing he had learned all he could on the isle. However, while they were leaving, Ordurn realized his aboleth companion had disappeared. He sprinted to the beach to see what had happened, and was met by S'gothgah at the water's edge. Though Ordurn feared for his friend, S'gothgah instead feared that news of the Banesmark would spread and decided to silence Ordurn before he became a liability. The aboleth grasped Ordurn with its tentacle, beginning the process of turning him into Skum. Realizing what was happening, Ordurn broke free, going into a wild panic from the psionic attack, and began shedding his clothes. He ran into the Winding Way, collapsed before the holding vat his supposed friend had once occupied, and died.
