Reyna Moonflower is an
elven druid from
Saltmarsh that is currently living in
Waterdeep. She briefly adventured with the group that would become the
Heroes of Saltmarsh, but departed before they were widly recognized.
History
Born in 1413 in Saltmarsh to two elven smugglers, Reyna was raised in a loving household and taught to respect nature in all of its forms. Though her parents decided to move to Waterdeep in the late 1480s to make use of the city's broader access to cultural and academic resources, Reyna felt a connection to Saltmarsh that prevented her from leaving to join them. Needing money to support herself, Reyna turned to the same profession that kept her parents afloat: smuggling.
While in Saltmarsh alone, Reyna became good friends with a traveling elven adventurer named Aurora. Reyna was inspired by and looked up to Aurora, who would visit Saltmarsh a couple times a year to relay her stories. However, during the reign of the
Sea Princes in the early 1490s, Aurora was captured by the Sea Prince Alistair Watereyes and never seen again.
In late summer of 1496, Reyna was among a group contacted by
Crab, the liason for smuggling jobs in town, with an unusual request to clear out
Haunted Mansion of Saltmarsh and make sure there weren't actually any ghosts there. While investigating, Reyna and
the others discovered a rival smuggling ring led by a wizard named
Sanbalet. Sanbalet was killed and the ship he was contracting, the
Sea Ghost, was captured. The group was then asked by the
Saltmarsh Town Council to determine if the weapons the
Sea Ghost had been shipping to a
tribe of lizardfolk in the
Mere of Dead Men posed any threat to Saltmarsh. After confirming that the
lizardfolk posed no threat, Reyna and the others were contacted by the town wizard
Keledek to investigate his own ruined ship, the
Emperor of the Waves.
After narrowly escaping a
kraken attack while onboard Keledek's ship, Reyna began to believe that her parents had the right idea in abandoning Saltmarsh, and she quickly packed her things and moved to the city with them, leaving her birthplace behind.
