Renaer Brandath

Renaer Neverember is the estranged son of Dagult Neverember, previous Open Lord of Waterdeep. Although distanced from his father, he is still a Noble of the city, living off of the estate of his diseased Mother, Alethea Brandath, in the Sea Ward. He has gained some skill in fencing from a lively youth, and these days is most often seen in various festhalls and taverns, conversing with friends he has made over the years. By reputation, he is nothing alike to the manipulative and ill tempered father, being more known for his thoughtful and generous nature.   Being the son of the ex-Open Lord however comes with danger. recently, Renaer was kidnapped by Zhentarim agents, along with Floon Blagmar, who questioned him about some kind of treasure his father had stockpiled. They found something within his Mother's locket which he was unaware of. When Xanathar Guild operatives assailed the warehouse he was being kept in, he managed to hide, and the Xanathar agents instead took Floon hostage, believing him to be Renaer (the two are not dissimilar in looks).   Renaer was saved by Polly Perrenporth and Eclipse of the Moon, who were investigating Floon's disappearance. They sheltered him in The Yawning Portal, and the following day joined him in tracking down Floon in the sewers under the city, Renaer feeling responsible for Floon being caught up in this.   The group rescue Floon from strange creatures
and bring him back to Volo. Renaer also learns that his home had also been burgled. Unable to repay Polly and Eclipse for their aid, he promises to make amends, and will visit them soon in their new establishment of Trollskull Manor. In the meantime he will lay low with a long-time friend of his.
Renaer would soon officially change his family name to that of his mother, Brandath, making a public statement of pushing his father's business away from himself. He couldn't escape everything however, as one of the Eyes of Golorr was pillaged by devils from his Mother's tomb, with the aid of the Harpers they recovered the Eye, at which point it was clear that the object taken from his mother's locket was most likely another of these objects.
