Volothamp Geddarn
Volothamp "Volo" Geddarn, world famous world traveller, author and magician, currently resides in Waterdeep promoting the upcoming new editions of "Volo's Guide to Monsters", and undertaking research on his expansive history of Waterdeep series, "Volo's Guide to Waterdeep". Most often to be found amongst the festhalls and taverns around the city, quizzing nobles, merchants, guildsmen, adventurers on their travels and stories of the city, but also partaking in a good deal of carousing, gambling and merrymaking.
His gambling friend, Floon Blagmar apparently went missing, and Volo was charged with "bloody well finding him" by Floon's frustrated wife. Considering that his friend merely ended up drunk in the streets somewhere, Floon may be in some sort of trouble, either with muggers or the City Watch. Two adventurers, Polly Perrenporth and Eclipse of the Moon (and their dog ) drew attention to themselves fighting off a troll in The Yawning Portal, and Volo hired them to help track down Floon, having last been seen the previous evening in The Skewered Dragon.
They eventually found Floon, along with Renaer Neverember, and it was apparent they had stumbled into more than they had first thought. Volo, a little short on the gold he had promised, instead gave them the title deed to Trollskull Manor to use as they saw fit, and as a place to lay low for the time being.
