When the Cult of Dard'van began to gain power on Skrullos, Empress R'Kill believed it was no longer safe for the Mind Stone to be kept there.
She gave it to the Contemplator, one of the Elders of the Universe, as the Kree had tried to do more than 50,000 years ago.
