Bound Borders
This territory is the homeland of the Versian Binderate. It is currently heavily locked down and almost all trade is restricted. Only those individuals with Writs of Passage are allowed into the Bound Borders, and without further legal bonds like the Writs of Belonging are restricted in what actions they can take while in the Borders.
The Nebula
The security of the Bound Borders is assured through a Nebula stretching across the southernmost border of the territory where it butts up against Terran Space. There is one known primary passageway into the Bound Borders through the Nebula, but all systems in jump distance of that passageway are heavily monitored and patrolled. It is rumored that there are other safe pathways through the Nebula, but if so those are expensive and carefully guarded secrets.The Mercurius Docks
The deep space zone just outside of the primary entry point into the Bound Borders from the other Core systems is known as the Mercurius Docks, or The Docks for short. It is named after the central passenger ship that has been floating there abandoned since the disappearance of it's crew decades ago. The mass of floating ships that are awaiting their crewmates' return from their journey into the Bound Borders has evolved into a floating city of ships coming and going. Security and Piracy are an ever-present issue outside of the protection of any of the Core Governments, and it tends to be both a haven and a target.Geography
The Bound Borders are protected by a series of Nebulas stretching through the Core Systems, forming a hard and easily defendable border that separates them from their rivals.
History
The Bound Borders have always been highly defensible due to the vast nebula that covers the majority of their borders with the other Core systems. They only got their layman's name of the Bound Borders 2 generations ago after the Law at the time declared that the influence of the other two Core governments was polluting their way of life. That Law sealed the borders, canceled all current Writs, and began the Closed Border policy that is still in effect today.
