Aiden Kobayashi

Aiden is a recurring character that appeared in Pokemon: Indigo Stories and Pokemon: Indigo League Victors. He appeared as one of the 2019 trainers chosen to receive a starter from Professor Oak in Aim to be a Master and was a major rival of Corrin Grey's in Indigo League Victors. He is currently traveling Unova with Tabitha and Ryan.

Character

Early appearances of Aiden portray him as reserved, apathetic and somewhat cold. The only emotion Aiden used to display was anger and annoyance. Despite these traits his determination, drive and will-power were quite impressive and something Professor Oak would always make note of when someone would critique Aiden's negative qualities. It is notable that Aiden often only captures pokemon that seek to gain strength or are already strong. He had a difficult time working with his own Charmander and when it failed to help him capture a Taurus he opted to instead grab it by the horns and catch it himself. Throughout most of Aiden's journey Taurus acted as his "stand-in" starter and team leader.
Aiden's serious and somewhat personality is explored when interacting with Tabitha. In Winds of Silver and The Spirit of Ecruteak Tabitha begins learning about Aiden's little sister Haru and how Aiden pushes himself so hard to earn money to save up for expensive stem cell surgery as Haru has always wanted to be a pokemon trainer one day. Despite a cold exterior Aiden cares for his mother, sister and grandparents very much and has shown he would do anything for them. This care has extended to his love interest Tabitha and best friend Ryan.
As Aiden's journey progressed he began he would slowly learn from many mentors that while he is strong as a trainer and a person he will never be able to reach the success of some of his rivals if he doesn't take the time to enjoy life and treat pokemon as friends instead of tools. Characters such as gym leaders Arthir and Blaine, his old sensei Dragon Wilson, Professor Oak and his own grandfather. He eventually did begin to actually bond with his pokemon and would start using his Charmeleon more-- as it is now one of his strongest pokemon.
While Aiden can come off as a bully, he is very honor bound. He will always show respect to those who deserve it and is usually only rude to those he thinks are a waste of time, idiots or too non-serious. However the biggest offender is those who lack honor. Aiden will not tolerate various scoundrels, many gang members and especially team rocket. Aiden has an intense rivalry with Rocket Agent Clovis and his partner Joan who he ran into many times throughout his journey. He was ultimately the cause of both of them getting imprisoned.
In Seasons he has mellowed out somewhat but is still considered intense and somewhat humorless. He is much more comfortable showing his affection for Tabitha and Ryan publicly and confidently declares them his friends. He also continues to contact Professor Oak and does errands for him when he can.

Aiden isn't the most social individual and doesn't seem interested in making too many connections. Despite this he is immensely respectful to those he seems worthy of his respect and will defend his close friends and family at any cost. His little sister Haru is the most important person in his life and the reason he began training in the first place.
Aiden can be cold and to the point with stranger and this often either intimidates them or make them uncomfortable which is something Aiden is generally content with.
