The Miner's Daughter

A tavern in Esset-Khal. Located on Trudger's Way, it primarily caters to miners returning from a long day's (or week's, or month's) work. As one might expect, Morgear Pikebender, the owner, is the daughter of a lithid miner.

Alterations

After thirty years in business, Morgear modified the bottom floor of her tavern to provide three bedrooms for miners who foray into the deepest parts of the lithid mines. These miners spend a month or more underground, and return to the surface for only a few days at a time, making homeownership hardly worth the expense. Morgear hosts a rotundra of such miners - who often feel more comfortable underground than they do in daylight - and almost never has a place for visitors, as rooms are booked several months in advance.

Architecture

Tall, thin, and round, The Miner's Daughter is shaped vaguely like a Davy lamp, though one couldn't tell from the street. Only the top twelve feet are visible from the street - the rest of the establishment extends into the earth some twenty-five additional feet. Visitors might confuse its circular shape for The Golden Wheel, which vexes Morgear to no end. She feels copied by Druven - who, she is quick to point out, did not build his establishment by hand as she did. Regardless, her tavern has the better location, and she reaps the rewards of this decision daily.
