Royal Castle of Krem
The royal castle of Krem is shaped like the head of a massive dragon. Don't let its size fool you - nearly half of its inner workings comprise gears, pipes, fuel, and other mechanics needed to run the Sleeping Dragon for which its surrounding city is known. The majority of this contraption is located in the snout - which breathes fire - while the back of the head holds the castle proper.
It is said that the throne room is located behind one glass eye, while the royal chambers reside behind the other. However, no citizens have visited the castle in three generations, and simple logic disputes such a vulnerable position, despite what is sure to be spectacular views. The more pragmatic speculate that one eye is likely the Royal Observatory - the other's use is a mystery.
There is one group in Esset-Khal who claim to know the castle intimately, despite never having lived or worked there: the so-called Thieves of the Hoard. Rumor has it they have found a way into the impregnable fortress and know the layout by heart, reportedly visiting every night.
But why should the castle remain shrouded in such mystery? Are there not servants and guards who come and go? The short answer is - no. Positions at the castle have been lifelong for the past nine hundred-some years, and those furtunate enough to be hired do not ever leave. Magic is used to procure provisions and remove waste. The only known portal into the castle is closely guarded and its location secret.
