Kakulanak

Planet in the Scronala System.   Kakulanak is the 1st planet in the system, closest to the star. This also made it the hottest due to being bombarded with a lot of stellar radiation. Kakulanak also is a relatively newly formed planet, and was subject to a lot of radioactive material in its crust which created more heat. It was mined for this radioactive material during the Grand Artanat Empire early space age. This fissile material was used in nuclear weapons and reactors. Although they did not mine enough to cool the planet down noticably, uranium was eventually rendered obsolete by fusion power. Due to this, they eventually mostly abandoned Kakulanak in favor of harvesting hydrogen from Kakztlat. This gas giant was the heaviest planet in the system.   Kakulanak was also relatively rich in metal ores, but due to the dangers of mining there it wasnt exploited until well after the advent of fusion reactors. However, the world was eventually terraformed by the GAE. This was thought almost impossible due to the sheer heat and intense radiation, but by placing a special nanoswarm into the atmosphere, it could reflect part of the sunlight while letting more sunlight from the surface out of the planet. This made it possible to actively configure the heat of the world just by changing a number in the code of the nanobots.   The radioactive material was extracted and harvested for energy. This made the world less radioactive, allowing it to be inhabited when several years have passed, and so they did. Several years later, life was placed on the world and allowed to grow. About 30 years after that, the planet was deemed habitable and people soon after inhabited it.   Kakulanak is a testament to the ingenuity of the GAE to shape any hostile environment to suit them - and as such, a structure was built there to commemorate the terraforming project and contain knowledge of what the planet once looked like before being terraformed.
