Phi Tulan Monopole Laboratory
This laboratory is primarily dedicated to creating new technologies using the magnetic monopoles found in traces on some planets in the Phi Tulan Trinary System.
The laboratory has researched stronger magnetic monopole railguns which use monopoles as ammunition which allows them to become far more powerful. They also contributed other technologies like monopolar thrusters, large machines that produce a lot of thrust for relatively little fuel. Their most top secret project is an atempt to recreate a machine similar to a Quantum Entropy Neutralizer QEN, which are so commonly used by the Hyperion Federation, and so important to that faction. Should the laboratory sucessfully invent the QEN, it would massively improve its profits and cause it to expand substantially. The Sulethis Republic understands that if the HF obtains knowledge of this black project, that would be likely to damage relatsions as the HF are extremely protective of their technology.
The laboratory is thus a highly strategic target for raiders or other factions. They have set up a high security protocol to deter spies and a large number of defences to deter pirates and other factions. The SR also made sure to place a lot of CIWS-like weapons on the station and defence platforms, making it almost immune to missiles strikes. It is unlikely to resist being blockaded for extended periods of time. It produces no resources and relies on a large stockpile section to store materials required for operation. As such it has been placed in an orbit that is hard to blockade without reinforcements from other planets. This can also make travel to the station quite convenient with easier acess to and from some planets. As the station is almost 100 km in width, it is bordering on the scale of pocket megastructure and might influence the orbits of some large objects like moons or asteroids. There have been 4 cases of asteroids being attracted to it and almost crashing into it, the SR has adopted strategies to destroy these asteroids before they can reach the station via large railguns. The sheer size alone is enough to make it a strategic target.
The station has also done some research into projects not involving monopoles. Due to its sheer size, it can be an excellent place to hold some experiments. However the To'rer'ot will never go to the station in person (due to being terrified of space), they will often operate drones to perform experiments wirelessly for them. Making this also a very good place to test the SR wireless technologies in various adverse conditions.
