Psi Nalut II Defence Platform

A very large defence platform circling Psi Nalut II.
Although it is commonly called a defence platform, it is more similar to a ring world in nature with a massive number of weapons mounted on its hull. The sheer number of weapons and size of the megastructure makes this world nearly impossible to invade. Furthermore, it is large enough to sport massive weapons that can target an enemy ship regardless of its position in the system, making the entire star system a powerful furtress. This is excellent for the Hyperion Federation, as this system contains magnetic monopoles and as such is valuable. These monopoles have been used to reinforce the system even further against attack, by using a type of very large railgun that uses magnetic monopoles to operate for low energy input. This can result in immense firepower if the HF applies high-energy technology to it!
The defence platform is also supported by a number of smaller, conventional defence platforms within the asteroid belt of this ice giant. These can launch ambush attacks on any force that approaches the asteroid belt. As the asteroid belt is in a higher orbit than the ring world station, both can support each other. Furthermore, as it orbits a source of magnetic monopoles, it can supply itself with ammunition and thus can remain under constant siege for hundreds of years, theoretically. This has never happened before. It is thought that the ring world will pay for itself eventually when one enemy faction attempts to capture the system for its monopole content, but for now it is currently mostly used for habitation (the ring world itself) and for extraction of material from the ice giant.
