Harbor Keep
Harbor Keep is a newly-built castle on the harbor of Loman Dur in the Barony of Loman Dur.
Purpose / Function
The Harbor Keep has been designed and built to replace the dated Baron's Keep of the city of Loman Dur. It is a uniquely designed castle, as it is not actually a castle. The main tower of the Keep is built on a narrow island of bedrock that divides the mouth of the River Skye within the harbor itself. For more than a hundred years, this rocky outcrop has been a thorn in every sailor's side as the maneuver through the harbor. With the construction of the Keep here, the hazards of the rocks are never hidden by waves or high water, and the lee-side of the keep always provides calm waters.
Sensory & Appearance
The Keep is still roughly a year from full completion, but it is finished enough to present a formidable presence to anyone visiting the city. It gives a supremely commanding view of the sea, and can only be entered or exited by land from a large double gate on the north bank of the River Skye. No corner of the harbor cannot be seen or reached by the archers manning the walls and towers.
Denizens
When completed, the Keep will be the primary residence of the Briar of Loman Dur, as his is the main duty to manage and protect the city from attack.
Architecture
The main tower of the Keep is 80' high at its peek, and has a round base of 60' diameter. From this tower a 40' tall and 20' wide wall extends both out into the harbor and back west to the north bank of the Skye. At teh far eastern end of the wall is another tower, shorter and less wide. The walls are topped with a thick wooden and roofed palisade, from which archers can rain down missiles in any weather.
Defenses
The Keep can allow an entire Company of archers to fire at will from its walls, and is routinely manned with 30 men-at-arms. Two of the city's four armed hulks are moored to the foot of the wall, and can sail with as little as 1 hours notice.

Environmental Effects
The only real drawback to the Harbor Keep's design is that the huge wall and towers create a huge wind shadow, behind which no vessel can maneuver under sail. Thus the harbor is primarily navigated by either oars or tugs (which are propelled by oars).
