Marcel II
His Majesty, King Marcel II Carrel
Marcel II Carrel was the King of Aria and the oldest son of King Roche Carrel. He was 60 years old when he took the throne, and was King for 6 years.
Marcel II is not remembered as a successful King of Aria. As a Prince of the Realm and Heir to the Throne, he had countless affairs and dalliances with dozens of women. At the age of 18, he was married to an heiress of the House of Dumont, and they had four children. After the birth of their last daughter, Marcel never again visited the bed of his wife.
Marcel is also credited with significantly eroding the relations with the Dwarven cities in Gorgomoth. He routinely made demands of the ruling houses of Gorgomoth as Prince, and as King refused to assist the Dwarves when they called for it during an orc invasion from the south. Marcel stopped the Arian forces from pursuing the orcs as they progressed north to Gorgomoth, and instead recalled them to the Arial River to ensure the horde did not further harrass Arian holdings.
Marcel was considered a fop and a dandy, far more concerned with the latest fashion trends than the well being of his country. He spent mountains of money on homes, palaces and trips across the land to feast and guest with his Counts and Barons.
Marcel died of an unknown infection that many speculate was an STD, causing a series of festering boils and ulcers to break out on his lower extremities. He was 66 years old, and he was succeeded by his son, Marcel III in 225 AF.
