His Majesty Marcel III Carrel
Marcel III Carrel was King of Aria and father to the current King, his only son Tessian.
Marcel was born in 166 AF, the first son of King Marcel II and the oldest of four children. He was a healthy and active youth who enjoyed riding, exploring and playing games with other children at court. He was a particularly good runner, winning races and contests routinely, and earning him the sobriquet la rapide, or "the swift".
In 199 AF, Marcel II married his heir to the daughter of the Count of Dunmor, Renee Dechateone. The prince was 34 years old, and his bride as 19. A son was born the following year, Tessian Carrel.
Marcel's father the King died in 213 AF of a mysterious disease, and Marcel III was crowned King. He ruled for 12 years, and did nothing to curb the increasing loss of influence that the crown had been experiencing since the reign of Alain I. He allowed the Dwarves of Gorgomoth to further cement their independent rule of their mountain cities and he watched silently as the largest and most powerful counties of his Kingdom consolidated their authority away from Malamor and into their own capitals. The Counties of Aramor, Dunmor, Raymor, and Daynmor all forged agreements and alliances outside the Kingdom without the permission or approval of the King and all four maintained standing armies when this practice was forbidden by Arian law.
Marcel died in 225 AF while bathing at the Royal Palace at Malamor. He was succeeded by his only son, Tessian Carrel.
