Steward of Imesse
The Steward of a Realm, Duchy or Barony is an office utilized in all the organs of government in the High Kingdom of Imesse. The Steward's role is the manage the political division for the Lord or King, ensuring a smooth and functional governmental operation whenever possible.
Common responsibilities of the office include a comprehensive understanding of the operations involved in the running of a ducal government; the means and ability to manage, collect and distribute taxes, tithes and revenues for the entire organization; daily and routine paperwork and bookkeeping for the organization as a whole; managing and administering the machine of government; appointing and managing other important and influential offices and positions; ability to communicate and negotiate with other noble and royal courts and organizations within the Kingdoms.
In most cases, the office is appointed by the Duke and is not considered hereditary. However, some ducal courts favor one particular family over others when considering candidates for the office. Due to its inherent power, authority and influence, the office of Steward is a highly sought after position bringing with it vast wealth and conspicuous social status.
