Duchy of Lorancourt

The Duchy of Lorancourt was established just 15 years ago by High King Max II and his nephew Mak II of Lesser Imesse to recognize and reward the efforts of Lomain am Lomanni. He was then the Briar of Lomansloth after his father passed away.   The duchy was established by merging five briaries of Lesser Imesse with one from northern Imesse into the Duchy of Lorancourt. Lomain was invested as Duke and his seat was established at Lorancourt, where he proceeded to build his castle and improve his ducal city.

Structure

Duke Lomain is primarily the vassal of King Mak II of Southridge, and secondarily to High King Max III of Northridge. His duchy lies in both Kingdoms, and as such he pays a heavy tax burden.  20% of all revenues for the Duchy are paid to Northridge, and another 20% is paid from the revenues gained through the four southern Briaries to Southridge.  This is in addition to a 40% tax of all tolls received from the The Bridge at Lorancourt, which are divided evenly between the two Kingdoms.  On any given year, that is more than 300,000 guilders in taxes.

Culture

The duchy is a rapidly growing area where hard work is rewarded with low taxes and large profits.

Public Agenda

To defend and develop the Realm as a whole, and Lesser Imesse specifically.

Assets

Abundant harvests from active farming communities; timber and quarrying operations; several mines; and the only bridge across the Caldar River in all of Imesse.

History

Lomain is the first Duke, and has focused much of his efforts on fortifying the town and establishing his castle.  Since his investiture, he has completed and continues to operate the only bridge across the Caldar River in all of Imesse.

Military

The Duchy has raised a number of specialized units for its defense, among these are the Blackguard Regiment and the Lorancourt Lancers, both led by Darren Feldman.
