Wendigo

Undead

Wendigos are freaky, cannibalistic savages that haunt the deepest, darkest corners of nature. They are rare enough that there is more folklore about them then actual recorded encounters. Still, when you make camp at night, sleep with one eye open and a dagger under your pillow…

Basic Information

Anatomy

Wendigos have gangly, grotesquely stretched humanoid bodies crowned with massive animal skulls. Nobody knows for sure if the skull is a mask or helmet, or if it is their head. Hands and feet are tipped with wicked claws, and the few accounts of wendigos with visible mouths report they are filled with razor sharp fangs.

Genetics and Reproduction

Wendigos reproduce through the Wendigo Curse.

Growth Rate & Stages

Wendigo have no growth stages. When a cursed victim finally turns, the change is instantaneous and consistent. No matter the size, age, or species of the cursed individual, they all transform into the same beast.

Ecology and Habitats

Wendigos have only ever been encountered in the extreme deep woods and tundra, regions where civilization doesn’t yet have a presence.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Wendigos are undead and immortal and do not need to eat to survive. They crave flesh as an expression of their curse, but it does not sustain them.

Behaviour

Wendigos are solitary creatures. They are content to hunt beasts for food, but they covet the flesh of intelligent beings above all else. They prefer to play with and terrorize prey before snatching them and dragging them back to its lair. There it holds live prey for weeks, until it is ready to feed.
