Avanas
Purpose / Function
Avanas is the training grounds for the military force in the Eastern Elven Kingdom. They have produced the best soldiers and naval officers over the past thousand years and their main focus is to continue that trend. They also provide the weaponry and battlements for the defenses of the cities of the Kingdom.
Architecture
Avanas is a peculiar city within the elven kingdoms as it does not follow more traditional elven architecture. They pulled inspiration from human and dwarven designs and put minor touches on them to improve them, but the city seems fairly bland from the outside compared to anything else within the control of the elves. The buildings are fairly compact and non-elegant, favoring function over form.
Defenses
Being the center of Elven military might, the defenses here are second to none within all of the Elven Kingdoms. They innovate constantly on new technology for military purposes. While their naval force isn't as strong as Osonora or Felana Alora, their city walls, battlements and military are significantly stronger. This is as much out of necessity as it is a bragging point and a continual reminder of just how strong the Elves are.
History
Avanas was created at the height of the Realmswar as a specific training grounds for the Eastern Elven Kingdom and used to thwart the attacks from the betrayer armies. As the war concluded the city stuck around to continue training the remaining elves so that they wouldn't be vulnerable to attack in their weakened state.
Even today the city functions much in the same was as it did over 500 years ago, mainly due to the fact that the Elves are constantly worried about external threats and rightly so.
Tourism
Visitors to Avanas are far and few between as it doesn't have a lot to see other than the military training facilities and a few small shops. Most of its visitors tend to be passing through on their way to another settlement and are just looking for a place to stay for the night.
