Osonora

Osonora is considered to be the epitome of Elven civilization. There are no larger, nor more extravagant settlements in all of the Elven Kingdoms that exist now or previously. It is the pride of the Elves and considered to be their holy city, where they travel every year to remember events of the past, both on the material plane and in the feywild.

Purpose / Function

Osonora is the Capital of the Eastern Elven Kingdom. It contains a portal to the feywild and has the greatest Temple dedicated to Nerilee in all of the material plane. The main purpose of this great city is to act as a beacon to all elves both on the material plane and in the feywild. It allows the two planes to coexist almost simultaneously at this singular point, providing great access to trade of resources, magic and knowledge.

Architecture

The outer edges of the city stretch to the water with elegant buildings adorned in brilliant shades of emerald and gold lining the streets. After a few rows of buildings the first set of walls can be seen which is magnificiently covered in gold. The buildings in the next row are even more beautiful than the ones on the exterior, with vibrant colors and various precious metals such as gold and platinum being used. The second set of walls is taller than the first and is said to be made of the strongest stone and metal on the material plane or feywild. Within this set of walls lies the most important buildings such as the King's Castle, which houses his quarters, the portal to the feywild and the school of magic with one of the largest known libraries in existence.

Defenses

With the cities multiple walls and port location it makes siege difficult. Couple this with the fact that Osonora has the largest naval force of any elven city. To further protect against attacks, the walls are full of various battlements, arrow loops in the walls, anti-magic sigils to protect against magical attacks from the exterior and a full array of troops, from archers to calvary that are stationed full time.

History

Osonora was originally created on the coast of the Island nation now known as Tidallis. It is believed to be the first city that the elves built on the material plane. Its location was chosen due to the innate magic in the islands themselves. This allowed them to create and maintain portals to the feywild. As the elves began to migrate from the feywild, they used Osonora as a landing pad and expanded outwards to the surrounding islands and eventually across the many continents on the material plane.
It also served as a point of refuge after the Realmswar when the elves abandoned a lot of their cities and retreated to more defensible ones in order to ensure the survival of their race after the devastation left in the wake of the war. Most elves in the Eastern Kingdom found their way back to their ancestral home in Osonora or the feywild but some also went to some of the adjacent cities as well.

Tourism

Every year elves travel here from both the Northern and Eastern Kingdoms to pay honor to Nerilee and to travel to the feywild to remember their roots. There is a massive festival that lasts nearly a tenday in honor of this great annual event.
